Unnecessary Venders :D

Post by Hali »

Hey Guys, /dum

since like a few days, whenever I visit friends in Gonryun to sit and chat in the beautiful town up, up in the sky, my head always bangs against vender-speechbubbles.
I asked some people that are saved in Gonryun and have to deal with it all day, whenever they're on and not up for parties, about what they think about them. I mostly got a pretty annoyed reaction.
Wich I can understand, really.

I save myself there often enough to help friends out, so the venders are bothering me, whenever I try to buff someone, whenever I want to sit down, whenever I just want to check the Storage. I know that Kiana already forced the Owner of the Venders to place them different, so you can at least reach the NPCs without problem. But they just are unnecessary, so everyone would like to see them dissapear.

My suggestion for a new rule would be, to NOT be allowed to set up useless venders, that sell worthless loots(or gears) for way unrealistic prices, just to keep the vendingbubble up (not even with one unrealistic priced item). And/or to keep the venders away from the mainstreets in every town. they destroy the beautiful picture of every town when they're all over the place, whereever you want to sit down and relax and not get spammed with venders selling a red herb for 1m.

How are you guys thinking about that rule?
I know that rule from another Server I was on (and I know now it was really useful back then), and the usual punishment was a warning ban for 1 day, of the vender that had the unnecessary vend up.

@NoChat and @NoVend were implemented to minimize the issue. See viewtopic.php?f=58&t=1593 or..
@NoChat And @NoVend Implemented - These commands allow you to ignore chat and vend boxes from showing up on your screen. Note that this may have an adverse affect on any NPCs that may use them. Special thanks goes out to FaustVIII for developing this on eA's forums.
Tuning Specialist - With the addition of the two new atcommands, these are now configurable for automatic enabling upon login.
Considering that the windows are already invisible for players who don't want them there now, this should be a no-issue, unless there's a request to make a rule to ban people for standing around as well or idling in town. There are actually a number of people who hate that people sit in Prontera and chat since they get in the way or are annoying when looking through vendors. Adding a vendor map (which was a suggestion as well) will also just pave way for those chatty people to move to that map too.

I know that some players actually sell legitimate items that are ultimately sold out leaving a single item that's overpriced so their vendor can still be available or just for fun also.

By the way: I've simply got the "useless items" placed there as literal placeholders until my actual vends are set, not that selling was the original intention to begin with but rather a side-benefit from my GLOBAL CONQUEST. This was done just when novend/nochat was implemented, and I had that in mind.

As for it bothering you and your friends: my sympathies, but since you never once contacted me about it yourself, and instead resorted to attempting to get a punishment wrought down.. I'm afraid unless I am asked to take them down by staff (I'm contemplating moving the one by the Item NPC anyway, it's better than it was but still too close by my estimation), partially because you couldn't simply approach me and discuss it - they will stay. Forever. I may even add more, using the statue as a point of origins.

I will place them back up after every maintenance, until I leave Amistr, which will not occur in the foreseeable future unless Amistr was to close.

You may thank yourself. /fist

I'd be fine with it if they just gave room to move. Move them to the tree line and I doubt there would be any complaints at all =/

That part would already be covered @ http://rules.amistr.net/.
Rule #11 - Chat Rooms and Vendors
Keep Chat Rooms to the side walks of all the towns and Vendors in the vending area.

Reporting: Screen shot of the offence.

Punishment:
First Offence: Mute
Second Offence: 1 Day - 1 Week Jail Time
Third Offence: Ban

And given my Soldiers save the one General already fulfill this rule (now moved also), good to go. There's plenty of room to move, few people ever walk over the areas they're positioned currently anyway.

Thanks for your replies.

About the @novend thing. Sure you can use that, but I seriously don't feel like bothering to type comments all day. Like when I spawn in Gonryun, I wanna chat there, do @novend AND @refresh to have a free sight at the people I'm talking with. A minute after I go to prontera to chat and shop like I'm used to. To see the vends again I have to type in @whatever and @refresh once again. So whenever I return to Gonryun, I have to unable it again ..?

...

Also, if you really wanna use the venders for REAL vending anytime later, why don't you log your venders, get them the items you want to sell and place shops with stuff people actually would possibly buy.
This 'I'll just already block the street with useless venders for no reason, until I might actually fill them with useful items in a far future.' just doesn't make sense to me.
I probably wouldn't complain, if the venders would actually SELL stuff, and be placed far enough off the street to walk properly. (edit: I guess thats what you already did, ty.)

Even so, why allow such a useless waste of space ? If this is not gonna be understood, well then, I guess I will have alot of fun making like 400 new accounts for my new merchants, filling their carts with orc claws, sticky mucus and garlets and placing them right close to the place where people are sitting and chatting, in every town at least 12 venders that are placed near the spawnpoints (but off the streets) just for the lulz. :D

Right ?

Why allowing something that bugs people and doesn't have any sense.

@Haelstrom: The reason why I didn't contact you right away, was, because I was asking Kiana about what she thinks about it and she told me she already talked to you, and you weren't changing anything EXCEPT allowing to click on the NPCs without problem.
So I didnt see a sense to argue with you about it, if not even Kiana made you log them.

CURSE MY ENTERTAINMENT!

Also, two issues. One, this implies you again went to ANOTHER staff member first when you see me regularly in-game and could have brought this issue up with me, saving us all time to begin with. I'd understand this if someone I rarely came into contact had the problem, but you've even my MSN contact information, it would have taken 2 seconds to contact me and bring this up and possibly come to a compromise.

The only thing I was asked to do that day by Kiana, was move 2 of my merchants as they admittedly were obstructing NPCs by a margin, which I complied with no problem. She never "argued" with me about anything else, because nothing else was actually against the rules. Had she, they would have been moved or taken down, because she is an administrator.

I can understand people don't care for this, but I've seen others who do (mostly me. I love me.) If I'm breaking no rules and you have a 1 second solution to the problem, the only way this should be fixable is if you'd simply came to me on a respectful level and just voiced your problems. However, since you couldn't do that, I'm afraid my response unless again staff ask me otherwise, is thus:

Deal with it.

All the best,

w/e, then play the dramalama.

Since the venders are placed off the streets now, I am fine with it.
