Client crash, can't find solution

Post by StealthFire »

well I installed ragray and the latest amistrRO companion, made sure they were all in the same folder and everything and got a "encountered a problem and needs to close" error, with the send error report to microsoft option.

What operating system are you in?
are you using a clean install? (no other servers in the same folder)
how much ram do you have? ( and a few other specs if you dont mind.)

Have you run our Setup.exe (which is usually run after the Companion runs)? There's a possibility that this new client may require the newer Setup.exe also -- which I need to check into.

As a last resort, you could try moving the files inside of the "Backup" folder in your Amistr installation directory to your root Amistr directory. This is done by copying the files inside of "Backup" (ie: C:\Amistr\Backup) then pasting them to the same location as your AmistrRO.exe (ie: C:\Amistr\).

Let me know if any of this helps.

yes, i have run the setup and tried changing resolution and stuff several times to no avail.

I moved the backup files, but the files being overwritten were exactly the same(or at least exactly the same size) and the problem persists.

To be adding a bit more detail, patcher works fine, I click play, AmistrRO.exe window pops up but remains blank, and error message comes up.

My other RO clients are starting fine, so I guess this is specific to the renewal client? o:

It sounds very similar to this case: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=285" TARGET="_blank. I'm hoping to release a debug client shortly so we can at least see what might be going on here. There's obviously something causing these crashes that's missing in some installations.

Having the same issue.

I, however, am running Amistr in a RO folder filled with like 10 different RO clients. @_@ So I'm going to download the full client over night and see if that helps.
